Full Instruction Manual For Western Blank Firer Revolvers
A Western blank firing revolver differs in quite a few respects from its live firing counterpart, and as its name implies, will fire blanks only.
Although on first look, our Pietta and Uberti revolvers are indistinguishable from the real thing, blank firing guns are not strippable and side venting only.
Here is our basic instruction manual for loading, handling and cleaning Western blank firers.
Operation
- The revolver accepts six blanks in .380 / 9mm.
- Ensure you wipe the revolver down removing any excess oil before use.
- During loading ensure your finger is away from the trigger.
- To load, pull the hammer back to half cock, you will hear it click into position. This allows the cylinder to rotate freely enabling you to load.
- Push each blank into the cylinder, rotating after each.
- Once loaded and ready to fire, pull the hammer back to full cock. The cylinder will rotate to the next position and lock, the gun is now ready to fire.
- To unload fired blanks again place the hammer on half cock. For 1873 models rotate the cylinder and use the integral ejection rod to push the cartridges out.
- On other models use a small screwdriver or like pop the cartridges out.
- To unload unfired blanks, simply place the gun on half cock, and with the muzzle pointing upwards, rotate the cylinder and allow the blanks to fall out onto a soft surface.
Safety information
- Even though this is a blank firing gun, always treat the gun as loaded.
- Ensure that the correct blank is used in the gun. All our Western revolvers take rimmed 380/9mm blank cartridges.
- Familiarise yourself with the operation of the revolver before using.
- Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction when firing and undertaking the loading and unloading process.
- Never put your hand, face or other extremity forward of the cylinder, as hot gases from the front of the cylinder will cause severe injury.
- Blank firing guns vent hot gases to the side, be aware of this and always use the gun outside.
- Always use safety glasses and hearing protection when using the gun
- Do not attempt to strip or modify the item in anyway.
- Keep the gun in a secure, locked location and store the blanks separately.
- Keep your finger away from the trigger until you are ready to fire.
- Never store the revolver loaded.
Cleaning
- It is advisable to clean the revolver as soon as practically possibly after being used has the firing process will leave residue on the gun.
- Ensure revolver is unloaded.
- Using an appropriate cleaning brush (around .35 cal) and suitable cleaning product, start from the front of each individual cylinder and proceed to the rear, ensuring an adequate amount of solution is used.
- Once complete use a Jag (.30 or .35 cal) wrapped in cleaning cloth to dry all cylinders and ensure ready for next use.
- Wipe the whole gun down with a silicone cloth and lightly oil the gun before putting away.
